Mey's House
The house was first built around the 1930's and its basement served as a bomb shelter during WWII. In the 50's it was bought by the Armenian family of Menexian, and has remained in their name ever since, passing from parent to child. The house itself resembles little of its original self; it has gone through several additions and renovations over the year, the latest one on January 2017.
In an architectural aspect, the house is the typical Athenian house of a middle-high class family. High ceilings, large windows and big spacious rooms give it a charming, family feel. The latest renovation aimed to modernize the house while keeping its vintage and traditional identity. Bright colors were added, appliances replaced and modern necessities were brought in. However most of the vintage furniture remained, as to keep up with the vibe and feel of the house.
Entering the house through the old wooden entrance, you will find yourself in the hallway; one wall painted light blue, adorned with old sketches from Athens and Armenia. Getting from the entrance to the main hallway you will pass the telephone table; it is separated from the rest of the house with large crystal doors. It is where the ladies would sit and gossip in privacy.
The main hallway is spacious; a large chandelier serves as the light. In the past the main hallway was used as a ballroom and had hosted several parties once upon a time. On the right you will find the living room. It is consisted by two rooms; there you will find the Buffet and a large circular wooden table, perfect to have lunch or dinner. There are also several armchairs, a couch and a coffee table, where guest can sit and socialize. The living room also contains three large libraries, filled with books in English, Greek and French. There are also a multitude of touristic guides and maps for Greece and Athens.
The kitchen is a small and cute one, it has a multitude of cupboards, shelves and closets to store food and utensils. It is fully equipped with an oven, refrigerator, coffee machine, toaster and microwave. Pots, frying pans, plates and other utensils can be found in multitude. From the kitchen you can also access the garden; it’s a small inside garden, with aromatic plants and flowers, ideal to sit in the summer and take your breakfast.
There are two bathrooms in the house. One in the 1st floor and one in the 2nd, both have a bathtub and the basic necessities. Also the 1st floor bathroom has a washing machine. On the second floor you can also find the balcony; it is rather large, overlooking the road and ideal for relaxing evenings with friends and drinks.
The Area
This house is located in Ano Patissia neighborhood, a central and safe area of Athens with roads full orange trees. The location is very convenient, near Metro Station (Ag. Eleftherios /green line) and the Bus stop ( Sotiriadou on Patission str.) It is 15 min. away from the center of Athens by metro, a perfect location for students of AUEB or Pandeion Uni, or for anyone who looks for a quiet area near the center of Athens. The neighborhood is a friendly one, mainly inhabited from locals, families or students, with several bakery shops, small department stores, supermarkets, pharmacies etc.
Stroll around the small parks ,or city squares of the area, where you can find tavernas, souvlaki, coffee shops and bars, everything you can imagine ; Plus there is a rotating flea market every Monday!

Room 1
Price: 330 € / month, Availability: Booked
Room 1 is the largest room in the house. It’s located on the second floor, and is sunny and spacious. One window oversees the inside garden with the beautiful climbing vines on the house next door, the other is the exit to the spacious balcony, an ideal place to relax and take your coffee.
The room is furnished with a double bed, a large built-in closet, a small desk and a library. On the side of the balcony, the room has its own living room; a small convertible vintage couch, two arm chairs and a coffee table. The room is also well heated, as two heaters keep it warm during the winter, while in the summer a ceiling fan and the air-condition keep it cool and pleasant.

Room 2
Price: 300 € / month, Availability: Booked
Room 2 is located on the second floor. It’s a sunny room, with a large built-in closet, a comfortable double bed, a desk, a small armchair and a coffee table.
The room has an air-conditioning unit for the hot summer days, while it’s heated through the central heating system during the winter.
Finally, it has an exit to the balcony, where one can sit, relax and enjoy the sun.

Room 3
Price: 270 € / month, Availability: Booked
Room 3 is one of the 3 rooms located on the second floor. It’s the first room you will find in your right as you go up the stairs.
The room has a beautiful view to the inside garden and the climbing vines that encompass the neighboring building. It is furnished with a single bed, a vintage desk and a large vintage closet. It has also been decorated with parts of the family collection and it gives off a calm, and tranquil feeling.
The room has its own Air conditioning unit, while it’s heated through the central heating system.

Room 4

Room 4 is the second largest room of the house. It is located on the ground -first floor with a beautiful view to the garden. The room is furnished with mainly vintage furniture; a queen size bed, a desk and library, a large wooden closet and a single armchair, ideal for reading a book with a view into the garden.
Room 4 shares the floor with room 5; the rest of the rooms for the particular floor are: the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room and the dining room. As the room is located in the ground floor, it is cool during the summer and warm in the winter, and has central heating as the rest of the rooms.

Room 5

Room 5 is a small but cute room. It is located on the ground floor, with a nice view to the inside garden. It is furnished with a comfy single bed, a lamp post with a vintage lamp, and a small minimal desk. It also has a wardrobe and a set of shelves.
As the room is located in the bottom floor, it is cool during the summer and warm in the winter, it has a heater as the rest of the rooms and an air conditioning unit. The room is next to Room 4, across from it you will find the living room and the dining room, while on its right, there are the bathroom and the kitchen.
